Stephen Harper says "Canada will never be intimidated" after attack in OttawaStephen Harper took to the airwaves, on Wednesday night, following the deadly shootings at the National War Memorial and Parliament Hill.  In the televised address to the nation, the prime minister said that today's events were a grim reminder that Canada is not immune to the types of terrorist attacks we have seen elsewhere in the world.  "We are also reminded that attacks on our security personnel and on our institutions of governments are by they very nature attacks on our country, on our value, on our society, on us Canadians as a free and democratic people who embrace human dignity for all," Harper said from an undisclosed location.

Edmonton well-prepared to manage threat, says EPSFollowing a day of drama and tension in the nation's capital, Edmonton's police service is reassuring citizens they are not in imminent danger. Calling the events in Ottawa "a senseless act of unprovoked violence," Deputy Chief Danielle Campbell said the EPS members' thoughts and prayers are with those affected. Campbell said police here have "not received any information to suggest that there is an imminent threat in the Edmonton region at this time."

Winnipeg Police Service discovered what officers initially thought were the bodies of four babies on Monday afternoon after being alerted by storage company U-Haul, a subsidiary of Amerco. The police have since arrested the Winnipeg woman who was renting the locker in the western Canadian city. ...
